Winterbourne Valley Church of England First School is situated in Winterbourne Abbas about 3 miles west of Dorchester.
The school building dates back to 1896 and has been extended and modernised over the years. Behind the school is a split level playground with a Timber Trail and all weather shelter. There is a large playing field, incorporating a slope giving views over the surrounding countryside. A Trim Trail has been added and this uses different areas of the field. There are shaded picnic benches where the children are able to eat their lunch in good weather.
To the front of the school is a playground with large activity equipment on a cushioned surface.
The main school building houses the hall, library and indoor play area.
There is a classroom for the mixed Year 1 and 2 class, and a Foundation Base for Reception and Pre-School children. The mixed Year 3 and 4 class is housed in mobile classroom at the rear of the school.
