'A small school with a big heart'

What does your child learn at school each day? Find information about our curriculum here.

We teach from the revised New National Curriculum 2014.

We have a creative curriculum approach whereby we try to link all the learning to an umbrella topic.

We are using the 'Letters and Sounds' Programme to support our teaching of phonics.

In addition to this creative curriculum approach we have daily discrete cross-phase Phonic and Mental Maths teaching sessions.

We deliver guided reading and independent reading activities each day across the school.

We have a strong focus on learning dispositions and how to be a successful learner. We are always trying to become more self-aware, thinking about how to succeed, challenge ourselves and improve.

Our Values are strong and based on Christian values. All our rewards are linked to how we behave according to our values and how we are developing as learners.

We have a daily whole school Act of Worship either in the school hall or in the local church, St Mary's Church, Winterbourne Abbas.

Please find below topic overviews and topic mind-maps that show the areas of learning we will be covering during each half term.
