Week 6

This week the children have been busy focusing on our book of the week 'Handa's Surprise'. We have been looking closely at all the different fruits within the story, using these to support our maths skills by sorting them into size order from biggest to smallest, discussing the colours and textures in order to sort them in different ways. As well as looking at the fruits we decided to taste each fruit and discussed how they smelt, tasted and looked inside. The children we particularly excited in trying the mango, pineapple and passion fruit. We have also been busy getting creative and exploring the watercolour paints this week, using them to paint lots of bright colourful pictures, just like the bright fruits in Handa's basket! Alongside painting the fruits the children have seen, they enjoyed sticking and cutting up the different fruits to stick onto their baskets. The children have also enjoyed exploring our climbing equipment outside in the playground, where here they were pretending to be the cheeky monkey from Handa's Surpise by dangling of of the mokey bars!

The Blossom children have also enjoyed more Autumn themed tuff trays this week containing conkers, leaves and pumpkins, which they enjoyed using spoons to scoop out the flesh of the pumpkins and golf tees to push into the skin of the pumpkins helping to support their fine motor skills.
