Week 1
Welcome back and Happy New Year to you all!
This week the children have enjoyed looking at books about the Emergency Services, playing in the Fire Station role play and with the Small World Fire Station, Engine & Fire Fighters. This has been a great introduction for the children to our new topic, Superheroes - People That Help Us. They have enjoyed dressing up as Fire Fighters, making water hoses using different types of paper & then using them to put out the fires, taking calls from people & writing down their emergency.
In maths this week we have been learning about 2D shapes, focusing on the circle & triangle. The children have been able to identify the shapes in sorting activities and use the correct mathematical language to describe these shapes. They have been developing their knowledge and understanding of the shapes in their activities and weekly work, which is a Kandinsky inspired piece of art work.
