Week 8

 Autumn 2 - week 1

Welcome back to another week. We hope you had a really good half term.  We had a really exciting week because we have been planning another school trip to Shire Hall where we are going to learn about  smugglers which is our new topic. Some yr 4 children have been to look at  St. Osmunds or DMS and have come back with smiles on their faces  saying that they love it and they can’t wait.

In Maths, on Monday  we were learning pairs to 10 or 100 and we did the same on Tuesday and on Wednesday we did adding and subtracting and making fact families. At the end of the week we have been learning about 2D and 3D shapes.

We watched a video about the Christmas Box Appeal, this is a company that helps children be happy and confident at Christmas time. Please find leaflets in your bags.

Next Thursday we have Remembrance Day where we remember the people who fought in the wars and we read a poem called In Flanders fields by John McCrae in Reading Vipers.

In Flanders fields the poppies blow

Between the crosses row on row

That marks the place; and in the sky

Larks still bravely singing fly

Scarce heard amid the guns below

We are the dead short days ago

We lived felt dawn saw sunset glow

Loved and were loved now we lie

  In Flanders fields

Take up our quarrel with the foe

To you from failing hands we throw

The torch be yours to hold it high

If ye break faith with those who die

We will not sleep though poppies grow

In Flanders Fields

On Thursday it was Dahlia's birthday and she brought in some cake.
