Week 2

The children have done some fabulous writing during our literacy lessons this week. We read the story of George and the Dragon about a dragon who is petrified of mice. The children used some of the conventions from the story to write their own. Their descriptions were great. The also wrote poems about a dragon and put a lot of thought about the words they would use.

In maths year one have been working on addition and subtraction including missing number problems and been counting in 2s, 5s and 10s. Year 2 have been reading scales, time and some word problems.

In art the children designed a shield using heraldic symbols. They have bought these home and I have asked if they could turn these into either miniature shields cutting out their design or make a 'full size' shield and paint it on. These need to be in school by Monday 20th May please.

During science we learned about different materials thinking which would be most suitable for knights armour and why.

Have a fun weekend and don't forget it's bank holiday Monday so we are back on Tuesday.
