Week 3

Welcome to another Bank Holiday weekend!

Along with our usual learning this week, we have been preparing for the coronation with a small celebration today. We learned about what a coronation is and discussed the coronation ceremony. We looked at the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II in 1953 and the children were very interested in the crown.

The children made union flags and decorated their own crowns to wear. They decorated some cakes yesterday and we did some coronation activities including colouring and word searches.

The children created portraits of King Charles III in Art, and these will help form a display in school.

We had planned to go outside for a school tea party on the field this afternoon, but after the heavy rain we made this an indoor event. The children enjoyed their cakes along with a drink and we held a toast to mark the celebration. We then learned about the life of King Charles III.

Our blog photos this week show the children with their flags and crowns.
