Week 11 - DT

Thank you to everyone who bought in boxes. We have now started our DT project and over the next couple of weeks will be able to share the finished items.

This week the children's task was to think about how they could turn their box into a Tudor style house, such as would have been around in 1666, draw a design and decide what equipment they will need. They drew and labelled some detailed sketches. Then in pairs they worked to wrap their box in white paper so they have a good starting point for their design. (Good preparation for Christmas wrapping too!)

On Tuesday we did our monthly independent write and the children wrote a diary entry based on our story Toby and the Great Fire of London. They detail they included was super, adding their own twists and I was really proud of all of them for the effort and concentration they put into this piece of work.

In maths Year 1s have been learning about shapes. Why not go on a shape walk at home and see what shapes you can see in your environment? Year 2s have been learning about money. How about showing them the content of your wallet and seeing if they can add the coins and notes together..... or let them find the correct money to pay for an item next time you are in a shop.....? Learning in a real life situation can really help the children to understand a topic.

Thank you everyone for your donations to Children in Need, I'm not sure how much we have raised yet but will let you know.

We managed to get up into the wildlife garden this afternoon to admire the beautiful autumnal colours and play with the leaves!

Finally well done to those children who got a head teacher certificate for their excellent learning this week.
