Week 11

Thank you everyone for helping your children talk to grandparents and family members about toys they played with in the past. The chidlren have used the information they discovered to do some writing in literacy this week. It was really interesting to find out what games were played by grandparents that are still enjoyed today as well as learning about ones that are no longer played.

We have also been writing instructions and command sentences to play the game duck, duck goose. The children had to read instructions for cat and mouse first and work out how to play it in the playground. None of the children had played this game before. Then they played duck, duck goose, a game they all know well and had to think about how to write the instructions for someone who has never played it before.

In maths year 2 have started learning about multiplication and year 1 have been doing some more work on number bonds and addition and subtraction.

Most chidlren have finished their vehicles which we have been making in DT and some have started sewing their hand puppets. They look great and the children have worked hard on their designs. Next week we will be evaluating what they have done.

On Tuesday afternoon during our outdoor learning the children enthusiastically built shelters to keep the rain off them!

We have also started reading through the nativity and learning our songs. Lots of children are picking up their words well and have obviously been practising at home. Thank you for your support with this.

Next week Wessex Water will be coming in to do a whole school assembly and a half hour workshop with our class about where water waste goes to. On Thursday we will be Christingle making in the hall and on Friday at 8:45 we have our Advent Service at St Mary's to which you are all welcome.
