Week 12

Today we had our Advent Service at St Mary's Church which was led by Rev. Jean. The children learnt about advent and about Christingle. Yesterday they each made a christingle in school.

We had an exciting literacy lesson on Tuesday this week when we received a package from Anne Brown at Shire Hall containing a quill, ink well and pages from a diary of August 1613 all about The Great Fire of Dorchester. We talked about different historical sources and the children used this diary entry as a starting point for their own diary entries for the day of the fire.

In maths Year 2 have been learning about multiplication and Year 1 have been learning about addition.

During DT the children have built the Tudor houses they designed and they look fabulous. They have included lots of detail in the windows and woodwork and we put them together yesterday to form a small town. Next week they will evaluate their work thinking about what worked well and what they could do better another time.

We have also spent time this week rehearsing the nativity and the children are doing really well at remembering their lines. Please do keep practising as I would like them to be able to do a run through on Wednesday without their words.
