Debussy La Mer

On Thursday afternoon we combined Music, French and Art into one lesson.  We looked at some sea paintings by the French artists Monet and Manet, learning how impressionist painters create their Art works.  The French composer Debussy was inspired by these art works to compose La Mer, creating music in an impressionist style.  The children listened carefully to one of the movements of the piece, whilst drawing and colouring a picture inspired by the music.  We finished off by watching an orchestra performing the work.  The youtube link:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-zoxpFPrZiQ   shows the performance we watched.
