Week 2

Thank you to everyone who has supported their child to contribute to the Superhero display - it is looking excellent! To continue the Superhero theme, this week in literacy the children have focused on alliteration and have designed and come up with alliterative names and super powers. They have worked really hard and created a class book based on the 'Superhero ABC' book by Bob McLeod. It looks fantastic and the children were excellent at thinking of their phrases.

Daphne said,  "Diamond Daphne dives deep in the ocean."

Phoebe G said, "Fire Phoebe flies through the thin forest, Fire Phoebe fishes for fruit."

George said, "Giant George jumps in jelly!"

Isla said, "Invisible Isla is always invisible!

Arthur said, "Arrow Arthur is alert to arrows!"

In Maths, the Year 2 children have been working with money and making the same amounts of money using different coins and the Year 1 children have been consolidating their understanding of numbers to 20.

Our art lessons have focussed on the work of Bridget Riley and we have been experimenting with different types of line - this involved a lot of perseverance as most of it found it very tricky. We used black card and string or wool to create the different types of line.

In RE, we thought about different foods that are eaten when we are remembering or celebrating events - we even got to try some of them including Easter Egg, Birthday cake, pancakes and turkey!

Well done Beech Class - another super week!
