Week 6

This week was very exciting because we received a power-point from Bees Creek School, Northern Territory, Australia inviting us to be their pen pals! They told us all about their school so we made a power point about life at Winterbourne Valley First school to send back to them. We posed for a photograph on the field and also one on the play equipment - see them attached.

In Literacy, we have been practising for our phonics screening check and writing a diary recount pretending to be the big bad pig or a wolf from the story 'Three little wolves and the big bad pig' - this was a continuation from 'The Three Little Pigs'. In Maths, Year 2 have finished their topic of time - lots of them found this super tricky! In Year 1, we have been learning about position and direction and even done the cha-cha slide and played Twister. What fun!

In Science, we have been answering the questions:

1) Are leaves all the same?

2) Are seeds and bulbs all the same?

3) Which flowers do the seeds and bulbs grow into (plant identification)

The children have really enjoyed this and we have extended our learning into thinking about which part of the plant we eat. We have been on a leaf hunt (see pics) and used magnifying glasses to look closely at leaves, seed and bulbs.

Fantastic end to the half term Beech Class - I hope you all have a fantastic half term!
