Week 13

This week the children have been focusing on all things Christmas and Nativity. To help support this the children have been looking at the book 'The First Christmas' to help continue their understanding of why we do our own Nativity around the Christmas period. We have also had the book 'Stickman' as our other topic book. The children have enjoyed lots of Stickman themed activities such as building their very own Stickmen using sticks, glue, googly eyes and pipe cleaners.

To help us all get into the Christmas spirit, the children have been busy creating lots of decorations for the classroom. They started the week by cutting doilies into different shapes and covering them in glitter to create super sparkly snowflakes. As well as this the children have enjoyed our present wrapping station. Here, the children snipped the wrapping paper to the correct size in order to wrap up different objects to place under the Christmas tree. The children have also used Christmas crackers and stockings to put into size order from biggest to smallest.

Blossom class have had fun exploring lots of messy trays including a shaving foam Christmas tree! As well as painting Christmas trees, the children got the chance to place their very own handmade decorations onto our school Christmas tree. On top of all the Christmas crafts and activities we have done throughout the week we also loved making our very own gingerbread men and stars, which we decorated with lots of yummy sprinkles and icing!

To finish of a busy week the children have been preparing for their Nativity with lots of rehearsals. They have all learnt their song 'A King Is Born' brilliantly, remembering the actions too!
