Week Beginning 11th January

Dear Sharks,

Below you will find the learning grid and resources that you will need for this week’s remote learning. You will see that we have set out the Numeracy and Literacy based lessons day by day to help you to organise your learning time. Make sure that you complete the tasks in the right order. In addition to the tasks on the learning grid we would ask that you complete 30 minutes of Reading Eggspress and 30 minutes of Mathletics or TTRockstars each day. We have set new tasks for you on Mathletics which are either related to what we did in class last term or what we are doing this term.

For the other subjects on the grid, we’d like you to choose one or two tasks to do each day.

We’d love to see some of the work you have completed at home so that we can see how you are getting on! Please email some photos of what you have been doing to us each week so we can reply with some feedback and next steps for you.

We hope to be seeing you via Zoom very soon! (details to follow!)

Take care and happy learning everyone,

Mrs Austin and Miss Darby.

A note for parents:

Dear Parents and Carers,

As I am sure you will appreciate, setting home learning tasks is very different to teaching in the classroom and we are trying our best to work out what will work for you at home. We would be really grateful if you could let us know whether what has been set is working for you. If there are things that we could change/add to make things more manageable for you and the children please do let us know.

We appreciate that many of you are working from home and trying to manage home schooling alongside your own work and potentially with more than one child at home. The government guidelines are for us to provide your child with 4 hours of remote learning a day. But, please don’t feel under pressure to complete it all, everyday. If it is a difficult day for one reason or another and you are not able to prioritise the home learning that we have set then please don’t worry. On these days, encourage your child to read, draw, write and play imaginatively. Or simply go for a walk, talk and share a story.

We will be contacting you later this week with details of our planned Zoom meetings. This will be a chance for us to check in with the children and see how they are getting on. We are working behind the scenes to create more opportunities for virtual face to face interaction with the children as we are very aware that this will be really important to them during this period.

With the hurried school closures on Monday evening, it may be that some of you do not have all the resources you need at home. If you need a lined literacy book, squared maths book or pencils, please email or call the office and arrange a time to come and collect what you need from school.

If you have any questions please email us or phone the office and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

Take care and stay safe,

Mrs Austin and Miss Darby
