WEEK 4
In RE, we have been looking at different pictures of Jesus and discussing if they have similarities and differences. We talked about why people believe that he is special and a good role model for Christians. We shared the story of Jesus healing the paralysed man and some of the other miracles that he performed. We then talked about ways that the children may have helped someone.
This week our focus story has been 'The Little Red Hen'. We have been sequencing, retelling and writing about the characters and events throughout the story. The children really enjoyed making bread like the little red hen in the story, who's friends were not very helpful! This has been a lovely way to introduce the children to our class values of always being 'kind', 'polite' and 'helpful'.
To make their rolls, the children each weighed the ingredients, took turns to mix the dough and then rolled it into a ball ready to be baked in the oven. We hope that you enjoyed tasting their delicious bread rolls.
Every morning the children continue to take part in Storycise, which provides the children with the opportunity to develop core muscles through story telling.
The children have been learning their new phonic sounds of - n, m, d and g. To support this learning they have taken part in many activities to help them to form these letters and retain them, supporting their development of early reading and writing skills.
