Week 11

This week, both Year groups have continued their understanding of capacity in Maths. Both year groups estimated whether they thought certain containers would hold more than or less than 500ml water (see photo). In computing, we have continued our work on grouping objects by properties and learning that in order for a computer to do this the human has to program the computer correctly.

In Literacy, we started a new book called 'Meerkat Mail', which the class have really enjoyed and we looked at all the places Sunny the meerkat has visited and read his postcards. Lizzie bought in loads and loads of postcards from her Nana and Pops that she has received over the years and shared them with the class. It was lovely to see that Lizzie's grandparents had travelled just as much as Sunny! We linked our Literacy work with our Geography topic and pretended to visit either a physical or human feature in Shanghai, China. We wrote a postcard to our mums and dads as if we were there. A firm favourite was The Great Wall of China.

In Music, the children made their own lyrics to their own song - this was also in relation to visiting different places, just like Sunny the meerkat - see the video in the video resources centre on the website.
