Week 10

The children have been busy this week learning a poem for Mother's Day, making hand print flowers to go with their poem and lovely cards to give to their mummies. We wish you all a very happy and healthy Mother's Day! The poem was learnt by the children to be recited at our school Mother's Day service at St. Marys church, but due unforeseen circumstances, this was sadly cancelled. We have therefore recorded the children, so that they can share their poem and flower with you, we hope you enjoy it.

This week the children have been recapping upon 2D shapes and then we introduced them to 3D shapes. We named them, sorted them into groups and discussed how they differ from 2D shapes. The children are now beginning to use language and the characteristics to describe/identify them.

In literacy we have continued to learn our phase 4 tricky words, using these words in sentences during phonics to help us remember each of them. We have also been using our sound blend balloons to create words that begin with adjacent consonant sounds (eg 'sl' - slug, slice, sleep or 'spr' - spring, sprout & sprain) and then using them in sentences. The children have really enjoyed this activity! We have continued to use our non-fiction books about minibeasts to record information about the children's favourite minibeasts.
