Week 2 - Science and Art

Our study of plants has continued in science as we wait to see which of our seeds will germinate in the experiment to see what plants need to grow healthily. The children also each got to plant a bean seed which they bought home with them. Remember to water these and look after them. When they are big enough they will need potting on and we would love to see photos in school of any beans you eventually pick and eat. We have been talking a lot about pollution in our oceans and ways we can all help, so rather than buying plastic plant pots for the seeds, the children were all able to make their own recycled pot from newspaper.

In art the children have created a picture of under the ocean using water colours and oil pastels. They painted the background first before sticking on cut outs of sea creatures, coral and seaweed. They look fabulous.

Next week we will continue our work in literacy on persuasive writing having started by creating a poster to Save our Seas.

I will post some photos for this blog next week (when our power is back up and running!).
