Week 12

This week we have done a big focus in literacy on using capital letters, full stops and other punctuation in all of our sentences whether we are writing in literacy, or science or geography.  The children are still enjoying their guided reading and are tackling some harder texts now. Keep reading with your children over the holidays and talking to them about what you have read together. It is so important to make sure that they enjoy and understand their books.

In maths year 1 have focused on place value and addition and subtraction while year 2 have been looking at inverse relationships between addition and subtraction, multiplication and division. Keep practising those times tables year 2.

In science we have created a food chain for rainforest animals and throughout the half term looked at temperatures and rainfall in Manaus (The Amazon) and in Winterbourne Abbas. It has been interesting for the children to see the contrast between The Amazon and the Polar Regions. I think this week our rainfall must be fairly close to that of Manaus!

Thank you to everyone who came and joined us for our class exposure on Tuesday. It was lovely to see you all. The children love sharing their learning with you.

Have a very happy and well earned rest over Easter, ready for another busy term ahead.

Happy Easter!
