Week 2

The children have had fun this week beginning to create a pirate ship picture. This will be produced through collage work and painting. They have also been learning a pirate song.  In literacy we have read The Pirates Next Door and done some work on rhyme as well as the children doing their first piece of independent writing. In maths both year groups are working on place value and the number system  ensuring we are confident counting forwards and backwards and representing numbers in different ways.

During our PSHE sessions we have been comparing ourselves to a tree and seeing how our strengths are like the trunk, the branches represent our hopes, the leaves people who are important to us and the fruit gifts we can give to others e.g. friendship, love, smiles, hugs etc. The children are engaging really well with these ideas and have shown how well they can think carefully about themselves and others.

We also had our first spelling test this week for the year ones and they all coped well, showing me that they have been practising and learning those spellings at home. Well done!
