Week 7
This week our story has been Handa's Surprise and we have focused our literacy and writing around this text. It is a lovely story about a girl who wants to take different fruit to her friend and wonders which one she will like the best. As the story is set in Tanzania there were lots of fruits that we hadn't tried before such as passion fruit, pineapple, mango and guavas. On Tuesday we had a tasting session to see which of the fruits we liked best. (Although I failed to source a guava.....!) The children all gave some of the fruit a try and it is lovely to see them experiencing new tastes.
Thank you to all the parents who made it to our exposure on Wednesday afternoon. It was great to have the classroom so full and I know the children really enjoyed having you and being able to share their learning and their learning environment. I hope you found the mini phonics session useful and are able to have a better idea of what your children get up to during the day.
The rain held off this afternoon and we were able to have our natural learning afternoon as usual. Please could you make sure your child brings in wellies and waterproofs EVERY Thursday. I do have a couple of spare pairs of wellies but not enough. Well done to everyone who has remembered.
Lots of children have been doing their reading eggs at home as well as school and we had lots of certificates to give out today - well done to all of you who got certificates.
Next week is half term and the first Monday (30th October) is an inset day so the children will not be back until the Tuesday.
It's hard to believe the children have completed their first half term already. Have a happy, fun and restful week off.
