Week 7
Week 2 of the last Summer Term has been very exciting. This week we completed some obstacle courses, mud kitchen, digging and flower art in Forest School. In Maths we have all been interpreting data. So far, we have looked at tally charts, block graphs and pictograms. We thought about which month was the most popular for birthdays and what our favourite ice cream was. Chocolate definitely came out on top - yum!
In Literacy, we have started thinking about poetry and used similies to write our own poems following a tight structure. We also wrote a class poem together where we use all the children's ideas to create it.
Here it is:
My cloud is fluffy, floaty, soft, snowy, woolly, wavy, marshmallowy -
moving.
It is white as a cold igloo and as fluffy as a feather pillow.
It floats like a feisty protective swan in a big -blue lake or an astronaut fighting in the ocean to save his life.
In Geography, we spoke about the four countries that make up the United Kingdom and can name their capitals. In Science, we have investigated the question 'Do taller trees have wider trunks?' Our findings were that the tallest tree did have the widest trunk but we also looked at palm tress and Bonsai trees.
We finished off the week with a fantastic Science day - we all had so much fun! We worked collaboratively in mixed aged groups and participated in lots of science activities involving 'Time.'
