Week 11

Welcome To The Blog

Egyptian Day

On Tuesday it was Egyptian day in Silver Birch class. Lots of us dressed up as Pharaohs, Gods, Goddesses, Archeologists and lots of Cleopatra's! We loved Egyptian day and we all had a blast.

We mummified a tomato, by scooping out the insides like they would a real person. Then we needed to dry it out, Egyptian people would probably just leave it in the sun because it is so hot. Next we had to pack the inside with salt and bicarbonate of soda in and then put the two halves together like a sandwich and then we dressed it in a bandage.

We were lucky that Lillie’s mum was able to come in and talk to us about Ancient Egypt and in particular the Pharaoh Akhenaten, it was very informative and we learnt a lot. (Thank You!)

We learnt to write our name in hieroglyphics - some were easier than others!

Clothes Swap

On Wednesday the School Council held a clothes swap. Children throughout the school bought their unwanted old clothes and were able to choose something ‘new to them’ from the amazing selection. It was a lot of fun!

 Dentist

Today a couple of ladies from the dentist came in and talked to us about our teeth. We are learning about teeth as part of the science topic ‘Animals,  Including Humans.’ We learnt about the names of our teeth incisors, canines, premolars, molars and wisdom teeth. We thought about how we can keep our teeth and gums healthy and (a very brave) Miss Darby volunteered to use a disclosure tablet to highlight any plaque build up. We will be bringing home a disclosure tablet so we can see how well we are cleaning our teeth! It was very informative and we had lots of questions.
