Week 1
What a fantastic 'Gruffalo Day' we had on Thursday and the weather was very kind to us, we were able to spend the whole day outside! The children participated in lots of lovely activities such as - sharing stories, den building, hunting for animals and minibeasts, building a log pile house for the snake, making a Gruffalo picture using natural materials and writing about the creatures and their habitats from the story.
The children had a fantastic time making 'Gruffalo crumble' in the tuff tray using oats. They worked together adding ingredients and took it in turns to mix up the crumble.
Please take a look at our wonderful window display - The children have been very creative collaging triangle foxes.
Our role play area has now turned into the Gruffalo's café where the children have been really keen to get involved in the kitchen making gruffalo crumble and other delightful treats. The children have been very co-operative taking turns to be the waiter/waitress and writing down orders on the clipboards!
The children have enjoyed playing with the purple play dough. We had a go at making the Gruffalo and added purple prickles all over his back. Lots of children were eager to make character headbands from the Gruffalo story to include snake, fox and the gruffalo - please take a look at them all on display.
