Week 11 - Literacy
The children have worked collaboratively in literacy this week to answer questions about our Knights and Castles topic that they originally asked back in May. They used the internet and information books to help them as well as discussing things they had learnt to answer the questions. This work, along with their non chronological reports about castles and the Year 1s dictionary work has all been put together in a big class book. It has been great to listen to the children discussing how they will answer questions, what pictures they could put in and how the book should be compiled. It is great to see such cooperative and communicative caterpillars in Dolphin Class
You may have noticed a dragon arriving home to live with you...... The children have taken great pride in their sewing skills and making of these dragons and they look fabulous. I do hope they behave well - not like the dragons we met in our story The Dragon Sitter Disasters!
On Friday last week our first butterfly hatched so we left the net up in the wildlife garden. Over the weekend they all came out and on Monday we returned to school to find only the skeletons of the cocoons left.
A reminder for next week that Tuesday is our dressing up and feast day. Come as a castle servant, a knight or princess or even a dragon.
Finally I would like to say a massive thank you to Zoe who has been helping out in Dolphin Class over the last few weeks. She has been reading with the children, helping them with maths and literacy, playing football at break times with the children and making sure our dragons were well stitched and completed. We wish her all the best for the future as she completes her National Citizenship Service and goes on to do her A levels.
