Year 2

Dear Parents and Carers

Below you will find the learning grid and documents needed for this weeks remote learning. Open the grid first and have a quick look through - Week 2 learning Year 2 . doc.  You will see phonics is set for the week. Spend about 20 minutes a day with your child on the phonic activities, they can be repeated to reinforce the learning. Literacy and maths is set out day by day. For maths there is one work sheet a day to complete. Your child should be spending about 40-45 minutes a day each on their literacy and maths.  Your child also has their Mathletics and Reading Eggs logins so they could spend 20 minutes a day each  on these.  Tasks have been set on Mathletics which relate to the class learning. The other subjects are laid out below this and I have put in brackets the days we will be completing these at school so if your child is in part time, you know what needs to be done at home so there isn't repetition.

With the hurried closure of schools on Monday evening, it may be that some of you do not have resources at home to help with your child's learning. If you do need a lined literacy books, a squared maths book, or a handwriting book or pencils, please email me and I will get them put in the office for you to collect. You will need to give a time for collection.

As I am sure you will appreciate, setting remote learning is very different to teaching in the classroom and as teachers we are having to try and work out what will work for you at home. It would be really useful for me if, at the end of the week, you could let me know if what has been set works well, or if there are things I can do to make it easier for your child.  We also appreciate that lots of you are working from home and trying to juggle your jobs, home schooling (sometimes for more than 1 child) and possibly still looking after younger siblings. The government guidelines are for us to provide your child with 3 hours of remote learning a day.  But, if it is a tough day, your child is not ready to learn with you, don't worry. Read a story together, go for a walk and talk about the world around you.

I don't need to see every piece of work your child completes (although if they want to share all of it that's great!) but it would be helpful if you could send me a couple of pieces of literacy and a couple of maths every week so I can see how they are getting on. I can then provide some feedback and next steps where appropriate.  The best way to do this is to send a photograph of it by email.

Don't forget our zoom meeting at 9:00 on Monday you should have received an email with the link. This is just to check in with the children.

If you have any questions, please email me or phone the office and I will get back to you as soon as possible.

Have a happy week of learning and stay safe.
