Week 12 - Story of the Week
Our story of the week has been Leaf by Sandra Dieckmann. The children took part in many activities based on this story and completed some fantastic writing in literacy. They were able to recall all of the things that the animals said about Leaf the polar bear & wrote some lovely sentences to describe why they might have thought & said these things about the creature that they had never spoken to.
The children really enjoyed making & decorating leaf crowns like the leaves that Leaf decorates himself with in the story. They also went for a walk around the school to collect small leaves to decorate their pictures of a polar bear to recreate Leaf.
"I liked collecting the leaves outside, especially the herbs, the mint smells so minty".
"I enjoyed this book. It's sad the animals don't speak to the polar bear".
