Week 8

Welcome back after the half term break and and special warm welcome to our new year one pupil and family who join us and to Mrs Jefferies who joins the staff of the Dolphin Class Team.

This half of term our topic will be Toys and Childhood in the past and we have begun by talking about different toys that children played with a long time ago and talking about some of our favourite toys. It's amazing how many are similar. Teddy bears, marbles, scooters and building blocks all came up as favourites in the past and present.

Sadly, due to the new national lockdown, our trip to Shire Hall has had to be cancelled. If you have already paid, you will be refunded and I will let you know about this in the next few days.

We had a lovely outdoor learning session on Monday looking at signs of autumn and discussing how we knew the seasons change and what we could find in the environment around us. We looked at leaves, found lots of mushrooms, built some leave hedgehog shelters and talked about how few insects were flying around compared to the warm summer months.

The weather is now much chillier so please do make sure your child is dressed warmly for school, we are trying to keep windows open to allow fresh air to circulate as well as continuing with outdoor learning sessions on a Monday, forest school on a Thursday and outside PE on a Wednesday and Friday.
