WEEK 12
In literacy this week we have been looking at captions. The children read each of their captions and then matched them to the corresponding pictures. They were given additional pictures to the write their own captions to label their pictures. Independent activities have included phase 2 phonics games, puzzles and letter formation activities.
Our maths focus has been simple addition which was introduced using numbered birthday cakes with some candles on them, then the children had to calcualte how many more they needed to add to match the number on their cakes. Independent activities have included Numicon addition to 10, number puzzles, number formation and counting activities.
In RE we have been looking at the Christmas story, the characters and the order of the story. The children we asked to think about why the angel Gabriel told the shepherds the good news of the birth of baby Jesus? Why did angel Gabriel not visit King Herod? Do they know who visited them when they were born and did they receive gifts as baby Jesus did from the Three Wise Men?
We have been very busy learning all of our songs for our Nativity and the children are really looking forward to singing these to you. Each child has been given a role in the Nativity which has been kept a secret to surprise you all on the day. We have costumes for all of the children and therefore you will not be asked to provide one.
