Week 9 - DT and Road Safety

On Tuesday we had a road safety session with Dorset Police to teach the children about the green cross code and how to cross a road safely at a crossing. This is especially important as our school is on the main A35. The children learnt how to stop, look and listen and hold an adults hand as they cross.

Our DT projects this half of term are all about puppets and using simple mechanisms. This week the children made a gingerbread puppet using a simple slider to move the puppet across their scene. They really enjoyed making these and telling parts of the story as they did so.

In literacy our Traditional Tale was Hansel and Gretel and we spend time talking about the setting and how to describe a forest. The children had a picture of a forest to help them and they came up with some amazing descriptive words before turning these into sentences to open a narrative.
