Week 3
This week Year 1 have started their new maths topic of fractions. They are doing brilliantly and recognising half of a shape and half of a quantity. Year 1 are beginning to remember that the parts have to be equal. Year 2 have continued their learning with fractions and are able to talk about the numerator and denominator and recognise that two quarters is the same as one half.
In literacy, we have heard the story of 'The true story of the three little pigs' told from the wolf's perspective. We have worked on nouns and adjectives and written a Wanted poster for Mr A. Wolf! In science, we went on a plant hunt in groups (see photos) and have planted some seeds - we are investigating if seeds grow with and without water.
On Wednesday, Year 2 worked collaboratively with preschool and some reception children to create some pictures of mini-beasts and work as a team to paint them. All the children really enjoyed this activity and it was really lovely to see the Year 2 children being so inclusive and collaborative with the younger children (see photos). Well done Year 2 - what a lovely afternoon we had.
In computing, we are continuing with typing and navigating our way around a keyboard. Another great week Beech Class - well done!
