WEEK 6

This week the children have continued to build on their knowledge and understanding of addition, using different concrete methods to help them calculate the answers to their number sentences. We have used Numicon, counting minibeasts, number lines and our fingers.

The children really enjoyed our first all day outdoor learning on Thursday. These all day sessions will take place throughout our Summer 2 term, to support our topic of 'Magical Minibeasts' and many areas of learning and development of the EYFS, with a focus upon Understanding the World and Expressive Art and Design.

Our book of the week has been 'Mad About Minibeabeasts' by Giles Andreae. In literacy the children were asked to draw their favourite minibeast from the story and then pretend that they are that minibeast. The children then wrote some lovely sentences to describe what they look like and the things that they enjoy doing. We are encouraging the children to work more independently during their writing activities, using their phonic knowledge and their lovely handwriting.
