Week 9
This week we have been learning about Diwali, the Hindu festival of light. The children have explored lots of activities to support their learning about this special celebration and in each area of development. The children have enjoyed creating Rangoli patterns on the playground using coloured chalks, Mehndi hand designs in a template & scissor skills cutting out the outline of the hand, making & decorating clay Diya lamps, placing coloured gems on the Rangoli patterns, making lanterns, Rama & Sita role play and mask making. We watched a short film presented by a girl who showed us how her family celebrate this festival and a shadow puppet play about the story of Rama and Sita.
