Week 9 - literacy
Welcome back after half term. I hope you all had time to relax as well as enjoy time together as families.
This week we have started to talk about our new topic, The Great Fires of London and Dorchester. We have begun by learning a bit about life and jobs in the C17th and the children have been writing about different jobs that people did and whether those jobs still exist today. We have also learnt about Guy Fawkes and his part in plotting to blow up the Houses of Parliament in 1605.
A letter has come home about our trip to Shire Hall on Tuesday 23rd November. Please could you return the slip as soon as possible. It is a really informative trip for the children to learn about a local historical event, The Great Fire of Dorchester, how it started and why, and compare it to The Great Fire of London.
Today we talked about safety during bonfire night and hope that if you do go out to watch the fireworks tonight, you have lots of fun and stay safe.
