Week 1
Our new topic for the summer term is magical mini beasts. The role play area has been turned into a mini beast garden where children have enjoyed finding out information about mini beasts in books and bravely handling all the different types of mini beasts! The children have been dipping plastic mini beasts in paint to print patterns onto paper and were keen to draw/paint their own choice of mini beasts which look amazing!
During outdoor learning the children worked in partners with children from Seahorse class to search for mini beasts in the wildlife garden. They used a checklist to record their results and used bug boxes and magnifying glasses to investigate close up. The children made their own mini beast using natural resources - which looked fantastic!
The children were keen to make music and repeated sounds using the instruments. This week the children have particularly enjoyed singing 'Incy wincy spider', 'There's a worm at the bottom of my garden' and 'Ladybird Ladybird'.
