Week 9

Another very busy week with lots of activities and learning about the celebration of Diwali (the festival of light), Remembrance Day and Children in Need.

Whilst learning about Diwali, the children watched a short film about how Hindu children celebrate this bright colourful festival. We learnt about the Diya lamps, the food they make & share, Rangoli patterns to welcome people into their homes, Mehndi hands and many other interesting information. The children have been making repeat pattern Rangoli patterns in maths and in literacy, looking at pictures depicting something from Diwali and then recording a caption describe what they cans see.

On Wednesday we held a minute silence for Remembrance Day and then watched an animation about why the poppy is the symbol of this day and then discussed why we observe the silence and who we think about. The children took part in activities such as poppy making, watercolour painting and colouring.

For Children in Need, we took part in the Joe Wicks workout and thought about some of the children that might be less fortunate than they are and why we raise money to support them. The children also made Pudsey masks, colour by numbers and colouring activities.
