Week 6

This week started with our exciting multi skills festival at DMS. The children all took part in lots of activities including, javelin, target throwing, long jump, running and obstacles. Fun was had by all the children who returned tired but happy!

On Tuesday Kate from Usborne books came to visit to launch our Ready Steady Read activity. This is such a great way for the children and the school to get some lovely books. Please do ask friends and family to help sponsor your child and remember they get to keep half of what they raise for books of their choice. We hope this will help foster a love of reading along with raising funds for books for the school. Remember there is a prize for the class which raises the most!

On Wednesday we had our bi-annual Eco day. The children all chose three activities to take part in including tennis, shelter building, recycled snake ties, seed paper, cooking and water colour painting. They worked in mixed aged groups and all the children showed how confident and cooperative they can be with their peers and trying new things. I have posted a few photos here but more are on the Eco page of the website. Do have a look.

Today in literacy we have been learning about Julia Donaldson and what she enjoys using the official Julia Donaldson Website. We then wrote some facts about what we have learnt. These include that she likes cats and fish, lived in London and that The Highway Rat is the favourite book she has written. I was very impressed when I came into the classroom after break to find the children already sat at their tables quietly continuing with their work.

Have a happy half term and remember we are back on Tuesday 5th June.
