Week 5
Our literacy this week has been based around the history of four boats. The children have learnt a bit about The Golden Hind, The Endeavour, HMS Victory and the Beagle. They have used the facts they have learnt to write sentences and the have had a go at writing a diary entry, imagining that they were Charles Darwin discovering new plants and animals in The Galapagos Islands.
In science we have continued with our topic of materials and the children have investigated different materials to see which ones bend, twist, squash and stretch. We were able to do this during our outdoor learning up in the wildlife area so the children could be really hands on. Who knew so many of them could bend a metal spoon!
We have recorded our harvest poem called Autumn is Here and it is now uploaded onto the resource centre of the website. Scroll to the bottom of children and you should find it. I hope you enjoy it, the children all worked hard to learn the words, never an easy task.
In Forest Schools this week the children carried out a minibeast hunt, made clay mini beasts and did some shelter building. Great fun was had and luckily the weather was good.
