Week 10

Well we have had another super busy week in Beech class. The children are enjoying working with new learning partners each week and this week we have had another change up in the class with the tables and chairs. The learning environment is continuing to look bright and refreshing with all the children's contributions - including the new bakers aprons! They look fab!

On Tuesday, we had a great trip out to Shire Hall - the children loved learning all about The Great Fire of Dorchester and reenacting how the civilians behaved to help to put the fire out. We even pretended to be barrels of gunpowder and were wrapped in hessian and rolled (by our partners) towards the 'river' (see some photos below). We also made peg dolls whilst at Shire Hall.

The children have worked really hard this week in Literacy where we have been recapping our learning on nouns and verbs with regards to a visual literacy film called Pudding Lane. Some of us have even used commas in our writing to separate two adjectives.

In Maths we have consolidated our learning on addition using a number line or number square and have answered worded problems around this.

In Art, we continued our exploration of primary and secondary colours (see photo attached).

In RE, we learned about the 'Good News' that Jesus brought to Matthew the Tax collector and how Jesus was so accepting and forgiving of everyone (see photo below).

As always, we loved our Woodland School sessions and you should have seen our creations come home today!

Beech Class are really looking forward to coming together tomorrow in home clothes/spotty clothes to raise money for Children in Need - and we learnt today about the importance of the charity.

I wish you all a fabulous weekend - wrap up warm and stay safe!
